Hi, I'm Melanie.

I created Happy Place Interiors because I love seeing people light up when they enter a space that has been transformed and their house finally feels like home.

I believe your environment directly impacts your overall well-being and it can bring joy to your life and allow you to spend your time and energy on the things that are important to you — like, life. My business goal is simple: use the power of design to bring more happiness to people.

Happy Place Interiors puts a fresh spin on what you’d expect from
an interior design company.

Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a happy home and great design should be accessible to everyone, we offer a myriad of Interior Design Consultations and Home Styling Services. From Ideas & Inspiration, Paint & Color Consultations, transforming your space with what you already own or our professional guidance, we'll help guide you along the way to making your home your favorite place to be.

And because home is where our heart is, we donate 10% of profits to local Minnesota charities that help people in need find, fix or furnish homes. So when you find your happy place, you help others find theirs.

If you are ready to be intentional with your space and see all the possibilities
your home has to offer, drop me a line — as I would love to help make your
home your happy place.

THE ROAD TO A HAPPY PLACE

Melanie attended a top advertising and graphic design school, and embarked on a 20-year award-winning career. She designed packages, ad campaigns, TV commercials and created memorable brands through visual storytelling. She spent 20 years at top Minneapolis advertising agencies and design firms.

2007 brought a pivotal experience — Melanie was a guest on HGTV’s “Freestyle” show. This experience inspired Melanie to share with the others the joy she felt after her home was transformed. Her design focus expanded from graphic design to interior design.

In 2012 she began using her design skills to transform the homes of family and friends. This experience helped her realize her true passion was about making a difference in the lives of everyday people. Her love for houses and interior design combined with years of photoshoot art direction, advertising psychology and visual storytelling, made the decision to become a Home Stylist and Real Estate Stager a natural fit.

In 2015 Melanie enrolled in the New York Art & Design Interior Design program. In 2016 she became a Member of RESA (Real Estate Staging Association) and became a Certified Home Stager & Redesigner through a leading certification company, HSR. Happy Place Interiors was officially started in 2016 when Melanie decided to take the leap and leave her 10 year career at a top advertising agency and  go full-time building Happy Place Interiors.

Within a year of becoming a RESA member, she joined the Minneapolis Area Chapter leadership as President-Elect (2017). She enjoyed working with the RESA Minneapolis Board to help grow the recently formed Chapter. In 2018, as President, she was fully committed to continue the growth of the Chapter and the success of its members.

In 2019, Melanie won the prestigious award of Top 10 Professional Stager of the Year, USA and in 2020, she won Top 10 Redesigner of the Year, USA. In 2021, Melanie and Happy Place Interiors was nominated for the Minnesota Best in two categories: Best Home Staging Company and Best Interior Design Firm.

In 2021 with the explosion of the real estate market, Melanie made the tough business decision to halt all staging services so she could fully focus on her interior styling clients. Balance, a key component in design, is also a key component in her life.

Giving back to the community has always been, and continues to be, a large part of Happy Place Interiors. In 2022, Happy Place Interiors became a part of the Minnesota KeyStone Program. And a couple weeks later, she took another step and joined the Board of Directors of Joy Collaborative, an organization that creates life-enhancing spaces for youth with life-limiting conditions.

On her time off, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, friends and family. She loves the outdoors, biking, running, boating, traveling and seeing live music. And watching HGTV, of course.
